Guidelines
- No later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection or starting at 7 p.m. the evening before collection day
- Only accepted materials can be placed in the bin
- One 80-litre brown bin (or larger capacity based on the type and number of units) provided by the Town
- Make sure the handle is unlocked on collection day
(keep in mind that collection is automated – collection workers will not get down from the truck to check it)
Position:
- Cover CLOSED
- Handle and wheels must be facing your home
- Clearing of 2 feet (or 0.61 m) around the bin to accommodate the mechanical arm
- Place in your private entrance (no bins should be placed on sidewalks and/or bike paths)
- Left side when facing your home
- 5 feet (1.5 m) from the street
This position will prevent the bin from being overturned by snow-removal trucks. Your bin will lean up against the snow bank):
If bin-collection workers notice non-compliant items in a brown bin (using a camera), they are instructed to not empty it.
