- View the calendar
Items accepted
Only 3 materials and 3 formats are accepted.
- Is it a container?
- Is it packaging?
- A printed paper?
If you answered “yes” to these questions, continue with the following:
- Is it (real) metal?
- Is it glass?
- Is it plastic?
- Is it paper?
- Is it cardboard?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, chances are good that the item meets blue bin standards.
If bin-collection workers notice non-compliant items in a blue bin (using a camera), they are instructed to not empty it.
+ Visit the sorting centre’s Web site to learn more!

Guidelines
- No later than 7:00 a.m. on the Tuesday of collection or starting at 7:00 p.m. the evening before collection day
- Only accepted items can be placed in the blue bin
- Maximum of 2 blue bins (240 or 360 litres) placed at the curb, per household
Position:
- Covers CLOSED
- Clearance of 2 feet (or 0.61 m) around the bin to accommodate the mechanical arm
- Handle and wheels must be facing your home
- Place in your private entrance (no bins should be placed on sidewalks and/or bike paths)
- Left side when facing your home
- 5 feet (1.5 m) from the street
This position will prevent the bin from being overturned by snow-removal trucks. Your bin will lean up against the snow bank
Visit the Bins (purchase, tips, breakage, distribution and delay) page to learn more about the tips and then:
