Black bin
Frequency
One (1) collection per sector:
- Every second Wednesday throughout the year
- Collection dates vary depending on the sector in which your property is located (east or west)

* Roads and arteries that delineate the sectors are considered part of the EAST sector: Rue du Bordelais, Place de l’Harmonie, Place du Chantelys, Croissant de Neufchatel and Montée Saint Robert.
Accepted materials
- Final waste that can't be reused, recycled or valorized at home, at a city collection or at an ecocenter.
100% non-compliant items
- All material that can be reused, recycled or valorized (leaves, branches, sand, gravel, grass, food waste, recyclable materials, hazardous household waste, construction materials, etc.).
- Any waste placed next to the bin (garbage bags, leaf bags, items, objects, boxes) unless it is bulky waste put out on the day this is permitted (see section on “bulky items”)
Guidelines
- No later than 7:00 a.m. on the Wednesday of collection or starting at 7:00 p.m. the evening before collection day
- Only accepted materials can be placed in the bin
- One 240-litre black bin provided by the City
Position:
- Cover CLOSED
- Clearance of 2 feet (or 0.61 m) around the bin to accommodate the mechanical arm
- Handle and wheels must be facing your home
- Place in your private entrance (no bins should be placed on sidewalks and/or bike paths)
- Left side when facing your home
- 5 feet (1.5 m) from the street
This position will prevent the bin from being overturned by snow-removal trucks. Your bin will lean up against the snow bank):
If bin-collection workers notice non-compliant items in a black bin (using a camera), they are instructed to not empty it.
