Toponyms and odonyms
In 2014, the members of council decided to create a toponymy advisory committee (the CCTM) mandated to develop a policy relating to toponymic designation and odonyms in order to officialise the name assignment methodology (r. 03-79-14). The policy sets the rules, criteria and procedures which will enable the Town to handle requests in a transparent, fair, consistent, coherent and efficient manner.
The objective pursued by the committee during its analysis of new requests and its development of proposals regarding the naming of places and roadways will be linked to the territory’s distinct identity and will reflect either its equestrian tradition, its woods, its landscapes, its natural environment, its cultural heritage or its exceptional figures. The committee will also have to preserve our distinct identity when dealing with new, more contemporary residential developments.
