Specific urban planning plans (project)
Two specific urban planning plans (PPU) under development in Saint-Lazare
What is a PPU?
A PPU is an urban planning document that sets out a city's intentions for a specific part of its territory. It establishes planning and development objectives and proposes a series of concrete measures to achieve them.
In other words, a special urban planning plan (PPU) is an opportunity to build a collective vision for our beautiful city, and to identify the resources and tools needed to make it a reality.
During the summer of 2022, the City of Saint-Lazare began developing special urban planning plans (PPU) for the Cité-des-Jeunes and the village core sectors.
Why?
The
Cité-des-Jeunes area is a territory in the midst of redefinition, characterized
by the cohabitation of multiple uses, activities and buildings with all kinds
of vocations, in addition to large parcels of land left vacant until now or in
need of redevelopment. With the imminent opening of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges
regional hospital just a few blocks away, the Cité-des-Jeunes area is now under
increased pressure for real estate development.
This sector offers a range of assets and features that cannot be ignored, but may not be suitable for every type of project. Thoughtful planning is required to meet the diverse needs of current and future residential and corporate residents. The PPU will provide a harmonious and responsible framework for the sector's development.
The village core may have fewer sections to develop than the Cité-des-Jeunes area, but they are just as important. The village core is the beating heart of our city, where a variety of activities and uses (residential, commercial, institutional, cultural, leisure, etc.) come together. It's a living environment that drives our city's dynamism. Renewing its vitality depends in large part on the development that weaves coherence between its present and future uses. The PPU will provide a framework for the development of the village core to support its dynamism and resilience.
FALL 2022 | Public consultation activities
