Municipal elections

In Quebec, municipal elections are held to elect members of the municipal council of each local municipality. The latter is composed of a mayor, who presides over the council and possesses specific powers, and a minimum of six municipal councillors. The elections are governed by the Act respecting
elections and referendums in municipalities
and held on a set date, namely the first Sunday of November, every four years.

This section is activated at the time of a general election or by-election.
