The Arrival of Our Favorite Gruff: Monsieur Lazare!

In the summer of 2024, Monsieur Lazare conquered the Ville de Saint-Lazare YouTube channel. Played by renowned actor Richard Fréchette, Mr. Lazard is a fictional character based on real-life experiences. He embodies a gruff, self-important citizen who resents rules and authority, and likes to do as he pleases.

Monsieur Lazare is designed to put a spotlight on some disputable behaviors, and to encourage people not to do what he does! So far, he's been promoting speed reduction, especially in school zones, pesticide avoidance and respect for workers on construction sites.

Mr. Lazare even enjoyed a certain popularity success, finding himself under the spotlight of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM), which relayed our video on pesticides on its own social networks. At the same time, the CMM congratulated the Ville de Saint-Lazare (#BonCoup) for promoting better citizen behavior.

2025 will see the return of Monsieur Lazare, but in a different, more colorful manner. In fact, he'll be well surrounded, and we'll be able to share his adventures a few times during the year. Watch for more information in the next issue of the municipal bulletin!
