Nationale AccessAbility Week

May 23, 2023

May 28 to June 3, 2023

Accessibility is a fundamental right. Every person should be able to play an active role in our society, without barriers.

This is the perfect opportunity to:

  • Celebrate the valuable contributions and leadership of Canadians with disabilities;

  • Celebrate the work of people, organizations and communities that are breaking down barriers;

  • Reflect on the ongoing efforts to build a better, more accessible and inclusive Canada.

Vulnerability in the context of fatherhood: Perspectives of fathers of children with special needs

Monday, May 29 - 12:00 pm

The activity, presented by Carl Lacharité, professor at UQTR, will present exclusive results on the particular vulnerabilities and resilience of fathers of children with special needs. These results are based on data from the SOM survey conducted by the Regroupement pour la Valorisation de la Paternité (RVP), the findings of which were unveiled as part of the Semaine Québécoise de la Paternité in June 2022. Very few studies focus on the specific issues of these fathers who have important responsibilities and challenges. The presentation of these unpublished results paves the way for the implementation of an RVP project aimed at adapting the practices of community organizations to the realities of these fathers.
