Monsieur Lazare, Your New Favorite Grouch
Ville de Saint-Lazare presents its new anti-hero, Monsieur Lazare. He has already appeared in a few videos, some humorous and some dramatic, highlighting behavioral changes needed to improve community life.
Monsieur Lazare is played by career actor Richard Fréchette, who has appeared in most of playwright Robert Lepage's plays, in addition to recurring roles in TV series such as C'est comme ça que je t'aime, Complètement lycée, Moi non plus and Le bonheur.
Who is Monsieur Lazare?
Monsieur Lazare is a fictional character portraying an egotistical man in his sixties who thinks he can do anything. In other words, he's a grumpy citizen who's convinced that the rules don't apply to him. He's a man whose bad deeds are easily recognizable.
What led to the creation of Monsieur Lazare?
Sometimes, reality surpasses fiction... or at least inspires it. Ville de Saint-Lazare, in its desire to promote responsible behavior for the collective good, is sometimes faced with residents who are resistant to the rules in place and less collaborative. The short stories recreated with Monsieur Lazare are based on anecdotes experienced by Ville de Saint-Lazare employees - and, believe us or not, they're not the most implausible ones!
Monsieur Lazare thus becomes the embodiment of behaviors to be changed, our "Homer Simpson", if we can put it that way: a caricatural being who serves as a microscope to make even more visible the habits to be proscribed and the good deeds to be put forward.
Where and how to meet Monsieur Lazare?
In our first series of videos on the Ville de Saint-Lazare YouTube channel (in French only), Monsieur Lazare makes his way through the pesticide by-law, speeding in school zones and interactions with blue-collar workers. You'll find him in other adventures in different formats over the coming months.
