Day 21 - L'Envol and the butterfly mural, two magnificent works born of a cultural mediation project

On November 17, 2023, Ville de Saint-Lazare, in collaboration with the Comité culturel and with financial contribution of the Conseil des arts et de la culture de Vaudreuil-Soulanges (CACVS), unveiled its cultural mediation project.

The project aims to reach out to newcomers and bring together the cultural communities in the Cité-des-Champs and Cité-des-Papillons neighbourhoods outside the village center.

Following a call for tenders issued by Ville de Saint-Lazare in March 2023, the Comité culturel evaluated the applications received and selected Edith Cantin, a local artist, to carry out the project, as well as to lead a creative workshop with students from École des Étriers.

It was under a magnificent sunset on November 17 that the City presented l'Envol, a sculpture in the shape of a butterfly located at the end of Rue des Monarques, as well as a butterfly mural created by the students and installed at École des Étriers.

Everyone's eyes sparkled at these symbols of a promising and colorful future for our young residents.
