Day 7: A Space Dedicated to Culture - Launch of the Espace des Muses
On a beautiful late July afternoon, Ville de
Saint-Lazare officially inaugurated the Espace des muses. This small
island of color, on the extended territory of Parc Bédard, had already been
serving a cultural role for some years, but under the vague name of Parc
Éphémère, or was too often reduced to its simple address, 1530 Rue
Poirier.
The initiative to offer a space dedicated to arts and culture downtown is the result of teamwork between various municipal departments and advisory committees. In other words, this project was imagined, coordinated, embellished and launched thanks to the combined efforts of citizens, City employees and elected officials. It is the embodiment of a genuine and shared community pride.
To anchor the site's summer cultural mission, the City launched a contest among its residents to find a name that would truly reflect its vocation. More than 200 people contributed, and the Espace des Muses is now the place to be during beautiful summer days and evenings.
The artistic and cultural programming of the Espace des Muses, les Saint-Laz’Arts, will continue to be presented there in the coming years during the months of July and August.
