The City of Saint-Lazare is known for its recreational trails accessible, depending on the area, to pedestrians, horseback riderds, snowmobile enthusiasts and quad riders.

Use of public trails by horseback riders
Mandatory membership starting January 1, 2021
The proposed omnibus by-law number 1093, which makes various amendments to the municipal by-law in force in January 2021, will include the requirement to be a member of the Club équestre Les Forestiers to ride on municipal trails.
Effective January 1, 2021, any horseback rider:
- Riding on a public trail located on the territory of Saint-Lazare, and reserved for this purpose, must be a member of the Club équestre Les Forestiers Inc. whether or not she or he is a resident of Saint-Lazare.
- Will be required to immediately demonstrate this membership to any person responsible for the application of this regulation, including a patrol officer.
Riders are invited to consult the club’s website for the membership cost.
Cycling prohibited in la Pinière's trails
The City wishes to remind everyone it is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN to cycle on all trails, including trails of the Parc nature les Forestiers-de-Saint-Lazare. These trails are suitable for equestrian or pedestrian activities (hiking, snowshoeing, skiing and other similar activities).
Offenders endanger the hikers and riders safety and are liable to fines of up to $1,000 for repeat offences. Patrol officers are responsible for enforcing the by-law. Patrols will be increased.
Dogs held on a leash at all times
Let’s us remind you also that the new provincial regulation rquires that dogs be kept on leash in all public spaces. The leash must measure no more than 1.85 metres. A dog weighing 20kg or more must also have a harness or halter. Offenders are liable to a fine from $500 to $1000.
