City of  Saint-Lazare has developed cultural services for its citizens with a view historically based on cultural leisure.

Five sectors characterize the Saint-Lazare environment:

• Library and letters;
• Visual Arts, Crafts;
• History and Heritage;
• Performing Arts;
• Culture and Education.

To cover this vast field of action, the City requires the help of non-profit organizations and stakeholders. It also promotes resident involvement in the implementation of certain cultural projects. In this context, the citizen is no longer simply a passive observer, but an actor engaged in the creative process. Cultural mediation can play a unifying role in fostering intergenerational exchanges, regardless of ethnic origin, nationality, language or beliefs. It is in the respect of these differences that bridges can be created between the different sectors of the city. Culture is the tool of choice for getting to know each other
and developing pride in belonging to a community.

Valuing events that are meaningful, encouraging creativity among our young people, placing arts and culture in public spaces and our green spaces are all ways to give Saint-Lazare its own cultural signature.
