Ban of open fires in the forest and its surroundings

Thursday, May 17, 2018

Le ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs has made the decision to ban open fires in the forest and its surroundings, because of the current weather conditions in several regions of Quebec.

The cooperation of all is essential so that the ban on open fires in the forest is respected. This measure aims to limit the risk of forest fire. Under section 239 of the Sustainable Forest Development Act (chapter A-18.1), anyone who contravenes an order to ban open fires in or near the forest or any other measure issued by the Minister is liable, in addition to the payment of costs, a fine.

It should be noted that composting and the collection of green residues and dry materials remain the best options for disposing of rubbish accumulated during spring cleanings. In Saint-Lazare, green waste collection begins on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.
