Community Patrol

Every year, the City mandates a public security company. The security agents:

  • Patrol public places including parks, playgrounds, public buildings, streets, bike paths and any other public place frequented by residents as well as events to ensure compliance with municipal by-laws in place
  • Wear a uniform and use well-identified patrol cars
  • Are mandated by the City to issue, on its behalf, tickets to enforce certain harmonized municipal by-laws (RMH), including nuisances (noise, smoke, dog, etc.), parking, illegal fires, watering, etc., more specifically the following by-laws:
    • The supervision of dogs as conferred by the provincial government (no. 600)
    • The use of parks (no. 637)
    • The use of water supplied by the municipal network systems (no. 667)
    • The movement of trucks, of vehicles transporting equipment and service-vehicles (no.785)
    • Fire prevention (no. 805)
    • Alarm systems (RMH no.110-2019)
    • Peddlers and itinerant sellers (RMH no. 220)
    • Garage sales and temporary sales (RMH no. 229)
    • Parking (RMH no. 330)
    • Nuisances (RMH no. 450-2019)
    • Security, peace and order (RMH no. 460-2018)

* At the request of the Sûreté du Québec, the municipalities of the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges have harmonized certain by-laws to enable the Sûreté du Québec to apply them.

Halloween patrols

Every year, on October 31, firefighters/first responders patrol from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.:

  • To ensure the safety of children in Saint-Lazare’s streets
  • Use emergency vehicles or Town vehicles equipped with green revolving lights
  • Are available to help residents as needed

Parents must

  • Be accompanied by an adult
  • Wear warm clothing that can easily be seen or is made with reflective material  
  • Avoid wearing masks that impair their vision, capes or pants that are too long and could cause them to trip or hurt themselves 
  • Look both ways before crossing the street  
  • Carry a flashlight  
  • Trick-or-treat in familiar neighbourhoods
  • Stay away from stray animals 
  • accompany their children
  • check all candy before consumption
  • notify the police of any suspicious candy  

Horse Patrol

The Town authorizes Sûreté Cavalerie inc. to provide the services of a horse patrol which will accompany the volunteers of the Club équestre Les Forestiers in their work patrolling the trails. As such, they are authorized to issue, on the Town’s behalf, a notice of offence to any person found in violation of by-law 637 respecting the use of parks.

The cost for the services of Sûreté Cavalerie inc. will be covered by the Club équestre Les Forestiers.
