Wastewater treatment plant

2022 plant upgrading project

Located at the end of Parc-Industriel Street on the edge of the Cité-des-Papillons sector, the Saint-Lazare aerated pond wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) was built in 1996 as part of the Quebec wastewater treatment program.

At the time of its construction, the plant was designed to receive and treat the Town’s wastewater, most notably the water generated by existing households as well as any new households over a period of 20 years (until the year 2016). 25 years has since passed and certain components at the plant have now come to the end of their life cycles. As such, the plant must be upgraded in order to better meet the current and future sewage needs of both the new and existing sectors it services for the next 30 years (until 2052).
