Concours de photographie « Saint-Lazare en images » Français
SAINT-LAZARE (Québec) – Monday, October 17, 2005

In June 2004, Ville de Saint-Lazare invited all photographers on its territory, young or old, amateur or professional, without exception, to participate in a two-part photography contest (summer/fall 2004 and winter/spring 2005) divided into four categories (recreational activities, fauna, landscapes and heritage). The Town launched this contest as a fun way to decorate the walls of the Town Hall, the Community Centre as well as the Municipal Library with photographs of Saint-Lazare in all of its glory, season by season.

Seventeen photographers, amateurs and professionals confounded, participated in the second winter / spring part of the competition.

It is on September 1st that the selection committee chose the 16 winning photographs, or 4 photographs for each of the 4 categories. The winning photographs were selected based on 4 criteria: theme conformity, originality, technical quality and artistic quality. The members of the jury included Mayor, Paul Carzoli, graphic designer Johanne Mitchell from La Graff Design, the Town’s environment inspector, Sofia Fuga, the interim municipal recreation assistant director, Véronique Cunche, professional photographer, Stéphanie Duclos as well as the Town’s Communications Director, Geneviève Hamel.

Winners who took first place in a category won a $ 50 gift-certificate valid in a Saint-Lazare store of their choice along with a pen engraved with the name of the town valued at $ 30. Winners who took 2nd, 3rd and 4th place in a category won a pen engraved with the name of the town valued at $ 30.
