SAINT-LAZARE, Québec, May 24, 2011
The Town of Saint-Lazare is proud to announce investments of more than
$1.5 M in its cycling network! The work should begin this summer and
will be done in several phases. At the April 5, 2011, council meeting,
the Town adopted by-law 858 authorizing the expenditure of monies for
the development of bike lanes and paths. Our 15-km cycling network will
therefore be extended for the enjoyment of local cyclists and walkers!
And the village core will become more accessible for all!
Bike paths
Work will be done to create bike paths along some of the Town’s street starting this summer:
- On Montée saint-Robert, from Rue Bonaventure to Chemin Sainte-Angélique (last fall, work was done on the portion of Chemin Lotbinière at Rue Bonaventure);
- On Côte Saint-Charles between Pine Tree and Grande-Allée;
- On Chemin Saint-Louis, from Route de la Cité-des-Jeunes to Chaline as well as on Chaline (to Condora);
- On Chemin Sainte-Elisabeth, between Bordelais and Fawcett.
Bike lanes
Pavement marking work will be done in various parts of town this summer in order to create bike lanes:
- on Grande-Allée, from Côte Saint-Charles to Rue de la Voltige;
- on Rue du Bordelais, from Chemin Saint-Louis to Chemin Sainte-Angélique;
- on part of Charles-Goulet, then on Sainte-Marie, Saint-Jean-Baptiste and Sainte-Célanie;
- starting at Bédard Park, on Rue des Marguerites, then Rue des Violettes, Rue Denis and Rue des Cèdres;
- on Rue des Quatre-saisons and des Explorateurs, to link the existing bike paths;
- on Frontenac, from the bike path to Chemin Saint-Louis.
Feasibility studies
The Town is presently examining the costs and feasibility of undertaking work to create a bike path between Rue du Bordelais and Woodbine.
