Halloween - Sorcière Malbouffa (in French)

Sunday, October 22, 2017, at 1:30 p.m.
Community centre (1301 Rue du Bois)
Free - no reservation required

Enter the fascinating world of Sorcière Malbouffa who dreams of becoming an opera singer like her famous cousin Diva Malbouffa.

In her old book of spells, she finds a recipe for a magic potion called ''OpéRat pour les nuls'' (Opera for Dummies). Made up of rat-tail hamburgers, bat-wing hot dogs, frog ice cream, scorpion chips and extra-sweet blood juice, this potion is sure to make her dreams come true. But it all goes terribly wrong when, after a single sip, she seems to be completely out of tune! Her Verdi and Puccini are completely off key, and her Mozart sounds like a real NO-zart!

With a little help from the audience, the Rock’n’Roll Troll offers her a elixir made up of ''good-for-you'' foods and, after choosing these healthier magical options, Sorcière Malbouffa is able to sing like a true diva. This fabulous show includes audience participation and guarantees tons of craziness, laughs as well as some perfect (and not-so-perfect) notes!

Le grenier des Molinari (in French)
Sunday, November 19, 2017, at 1:30 p.m.
Community centre (1301 Rue du Bois)
Free - no reservation required

Make your way up to the attic to join an amazing quartet that promises to transform art… into music!

Sébastien lives with his grandfather, who is an avid fan of Quebec painter Guido Molinari. His grandfather’s collection is so big, in fact, that the paintings go all the way up into the attic! Fearing that his grandfather might lose the ability to see all the beautiful colours of his favourite artist’s creations as he gets older, Sébastien decides to translate these beautiful works of art into music so his grandfather can HEAR Molinari. But, with the task being too big for Sébastien to complete on his own, he invites three mysterious musicians to join him in the attic to help transform Molinari’s masterpieces.

Drawing a parallel between the strokes on the canvas and the lines of a musical score, this concert unveils the keys to better understanding and appreciating the principal works included in a string quartet’s contemporary repertoire while also raising the public’s awareness of art and one of the greatest Canadian artists.
