Floods: Ville de Rigaud seeking for volunteers

On Saturday, May 27, 2017, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As you know, Rigaud was severely affected by the flooding and more than 400 houses and land have suffered extensive damage.

The Town of Rigaud asks for the generosity of the residents of Saint-Lazare and surrounding communities to give a day of their precious time to help. They really need a helping hand. The job would be to pick up the materials left on the lawns and bring them to the edge of the street. Rigaud is asking volunteers to bring their rakes and boots, and will provide gloves, masks, water, dinner, etc.

If you are interested in joining the coordination team, you can confirm your participation:
  • by phone 450 451-0869 ext. 235 or
  • by e-mail at veroniquecunche@ville.rigaud.qc.ca

Participants are invited to come to the Garage municipal ((voirie – 391, chemin J.-René Gauthier, anciennement appelé chemin de la Mairie) at 8:30 a.m. in order to receive further instructions

The Town of Rigaud will be giving prizes, amongst the participants, including one night at the Auberge des Gallant with dinner, lunch and a beauty/health care.

Hoping to see you there!

Note :  Help is also required in other cities. We invite you to learn about date and time of volunteers meetups on municipal websites and social media.

2017 Civil Protection Week

This year’s Civil Protection Week (May 7-13, 2017) will focus on ensuring our own safety in the event of emergency or disaster.

As a resident, I am responsible. I am aware of the various situations that can occur in my municipality. And I am being prepared. By example, I have at home water and food supplies to last 3 days.

Three days, really?
In an emergency situations, I might need to go without essential services such as power or drinking water. Water and food supplies will help me fill my needs for at least 3 days.

The reason for highlighting this event was to raise public awareness about the importance of being properly prepared to face a variety of emergency situations, such as flooding, extended power outages in winter, windstorms or an earthquake.

Emphasis was placed on the need for each family to prepare its own safety plan and emergency kit to ensure it can be self-sufficient for the first 72 hours in an emergency situation, until help arrives.

You are invited to accomplish the following actions to ensure your safety and the safety of your family.
