Since April 15, 2004, the Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC assumes responsability for call processing of all 9-1-1 emergency calls, and this, for all municipalities in Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
9-1-1 calls are routed to CAUCA (Central emergency call center Chaudière-Appalaches). When there is an emergency (a situation that endangers the safety of goods and people), the citizens dial 9-1-1 to obtain emergency services (Sûreté du Quebec), Health-Alert (ambulance) and fire stations (fires).
In addition to receiving emergency calls, the 9-1-1 central must transform adequately the detailed alert until its follow-up through the call radio communications of the fire department to achieve this, dispatchers have the relevant information enabling them to be most effective. The computer system also allows for precise location-based mapping of an event, proximity to water intakes and the risks related to a building, such as the number of dwellings, the number of floors and the presence of hazardous materials.
