Brigitte Asselin - District 3 Français
Brigitte Asselin is a Saint-Lazare native. She and her husband Roger have three children: Éric, Marie-Pier and Marc-Antoine. Mrs. Asselin is an Assistant Director for community, sports and recreation organizations. She is well-renowned for her dedication and her implication in the community. Having worked with numerous organizations such as Saint-Lazare’s Block Parent and Saint-Lazare’s Cyclo-Tour, Mrs. Asselin also sat President on the À l’Orée-du-Bois governing board, and as Vice-President on the Auclair school governing board, the Saint-Lazare Community Centre Association, the Jardin des Mousaillons des Cèdres and Saint-Lazare’s 125th Anniversary Committee. Mrs. Asselin was awarded three times The Volunteer of the Year Mention for her tangible contribution to the community and was also named Honorary President for the 1995 Cyclo-Tour.

Mrs. Asselin made her political debut as a Communication Officer during the General Elections of 1994, then as an Election Officer during the General Elections of 1998 and finally as a candidate during the by-election in district no.3 in December 1999. In 2002, she’s elected Councillor of her district and continues to contribute to her community, this time as an elected official. She will participate, among others, to the decision-making process on the Citizens Services focus group and the Recreation Committee. She will act as an elected representative on the Transport Soleil committee (adapted transit), on the Saint-Lazare First Responders Committee which created the Saint-Lazare Emergency Response Unit, the Inter-Municipal board of Transportation (C.I.T.) Committee, the local Jeunesse La Presqu’Île Committee and is named President for la Finale Régionale des Jeux du Québec du Sud-Ouest in 2007.

The family being first on Mrs. Asselin’s agenda, she intends to pursue those initiatives which allow Saint-Lazare families to meet their needs and interests, as well as make a difference in their everyday life.

Public transit, sustainable and responsible development, maintaining a low tax rate, the environment as well as sports and community activities are all of great importance to Mrs. Asselin. The satisfaction of her district electors is also a main priority.
