It was brought to our attention that a lot of people are reluctant to report a found animal to animal control for fear it will be put down once the 5-day limit has come up. We therefore want to reassure you that it is not the case! The Centre canin du Suroît, which provides this animal control service for Saint-Lazare, does not have the authority or the necessary permits to euthanize captured animals. Employees of le Centre canin are concerned with the animal’s welfare and their first objective is to reunite the animal with its owner. It is therefore important that you contact them, at the very least tell them that you have found an animal and are keeping it at your home until the owner claims it. Remember it is someone’s pet, and someone is looking for it. The animal control is often the first place people will call along with the Town Hall’s reception. So please call and help facilitate reunions! If pet owners do not claim the animal after 5 days, employees will transfer the animal to an accredited animal organization or shelter which will provide the animal with a new loving home.

You can send us an e-mail at info@ville.saint-lazare.qc.ca
if you have lost or captured an animal. We will help you find it or find the owner
by forwarding an e-mail to 1500 subscribers of our Internet site!
